Civic Engagement

The Cambodian Association of Illinois and its communities commemorate the Day of Remembrance on the First Week of April Yearly.
We are observing the Cambodian Day of Remembrance, a day to commemorate the millions of people who died during the genocide in Cambodia, a day to reflect on the things that make Cambodians unique as Cambodian, and a day to look forward to a bright future with a sense of healing, hope and renewal.

Cambodian living in Illinois, as well as, living in other states, have come a long way since the first Cambodians arrived as refugees in the United States in the late seventies.  As we look forward to our future, we never want to forget our past and lives of our people more than two million loved ones who cannot be with us here tonight.  They are our parents and grandparent, our aunts and uncles, our brothers and sisters, and our children.  We will never forget them.  They will remain part of our hearts forever.

We truly appreciate our community members and the friends of our community who have supported the Cambodian Day of Remembrance, the Cambodian Association of Illinois and the Cambodian American Heritage Museum & Killing Fields Memorial.
Thank you for sharing the Cambodian Day of Remembrance with us.
